I had bluetooth on my Asus 1000 built in and it worked great. No wires, beautiful music to my bluetooth headphones! I purchased a DV-4 laptop from HP and it had all the bells and whistles, except Bluetooth. So I purchased this adapter for a dollar and change figuring what the heck.
Here are steps:
1. does not come with software, plugged it into my laptop, but no sound.
2. had to find out from Amazon where to get the drivers, I have Vista 64bit premium home windows and I could not play music to my headphones.
3. Downloaded the software from IVT Bluesoleil version 6, configured
the headphone set to my computer and I had sound. Worked Great but…
4. It only played 2 minutes of sound, a link comes up where they want you to register, this will cost you $19 more, so I installed the software.
5. Although I will tell you the sound was great, the distance is 10 feet if that from my laptop. This is not for me, every time I walk to the kitchen it would cut out and I would have to unplug the adapter and reconfig the connection.
I left the software on my machine and ordered the IOGEAR USB MICRO Adapter for $15,from Amazon. Wow, just plugged in the Iogear adapter a few minutes ago , I can play music into my headphones and walk into the kitchen 40feet away and still get perfect sound. The Iogear adapter is small like this one but responds better to the stupid software that I bought. I have not tried the CD that came with the Iogear unit. Just wanted to steer everyone to the correct unit to buy!

this thing is great, only took me 5 minutes to get it installed and opeartional with my Dell Mini10 NetBook and my BlackBerry Storm. I use my devices on the bus, and while in transit, I can’t tell you how much faster and better the system is. I don’t need to attach that crazy micro usb cable any longer to use my Storm as a wireless broadband device. For the price you can’t beat it, and the foot print is so tiny I leave it in my mine. I’m running xp on one laptop, and vista on the other. We’re good, I may get another one for my third laptop!

Simply Put:
1) Doesn’t include a driver
2) Doesn’t include a disc with software
3) The built-in drivers in Windows XP and Windows 7 won’t let you stream audio to your headphones with this
4) Searching for drivers doesn’t turn up any results (and Broadcom drivers don’t work with it).
5) Only possible resolution I’ve found is to purchase software from bluesoleil for $30. No thank you.
Don’t bother with this product. Spend a little more and get something that will actually work…I wish I had.

I bought five of these little pieces of junk. I tried them on three different laptops, an HP with Vista, an Acer with Win7, and a Toshiba with Win7. Also tried one on an older desktop with XP. In each case the device was recognized by Windows, which tried to supply a driver. In each case the driver didn’t help. All the dongles failed to connect reliably with my Nokia phone. All of them lost the driver on next boot. All of them had a range of no more than ten feet. I used to work as a computer repair tech, so I’ve seen junk hardware before. People have to stop buying this model of BT dongle. They have been a complete waste of my time and money, and the people that are making and selling them should be ashamed of themselves.
Not an acceptable product. I expect they make their money on people that don’t bother to return them. Zero stars. Amazon’s interface requires at least one.

Kudos to whoever handles shipping, the item came 3 days earlier than the estimated arrival date. However, the completely useless install CD was unnecessary. Why not admit that for the price, there was no software included and that a separate purchase would be needed to run it?
After much annoyance, the dongle is installed and functional, my headset connects and despite the some range issues, even picks up a neighbors cellphone when it scans.
